Not long before we leave on our trip now. I've just finished Greg Moody's book, perfect circles, his second after "Two Wheels". Sub titled "a cycling murder mystery" or "Grisham on Gatorade".
The first novel in a series of five novels, tells of his tales of being contracted into the Haven Pharmaceutical team for the spring classics and then Le Tour. The books can be ordered on the web thru Amazon.
The first book is based on the team's camp in Senlis about 80k north of Paris. It's our second night after we arrive in Paris. I told my wife that its a lovely medieval village with a historical Cathedral. What I didn't tell her is that it has a velodrome that's mentioned in the book. The team camp is based in the Velodrome building.
The main Character Will Ross is a broken down American rider contracted to the team by his ex-wife after the star rider is murdered when his toaster blows up in his face due to some plastic explosives. Yes its a trashy murder mystery but it has some great racing scenes that we can all imagine ourselves in.
Do yourselves a favour and look for the books.
Next blog is when we arrive in Paris and Senlis next Thursday.
