I found the velodrome and had Sue take a photo of me wearing the Bandido Green Jersey. This is a very illustrious garment, revered by all Bandido cyclists. (Wanker)…..
The next stop was the wine growing village of Chablis. The sun was shining, our mood was buoyant and the village of Chablis glistened with the sun bouncing off the rolling hills littered with vines as far as the eye could see.
After a quick coffee, we decided that some wine tasting was in order, despite it being only 10.30 am.
Two bottles of Chablis Premier Cru were purchased for our first night in Dijon.
We decided to move on to a lovely little village on our itinerary for lunch to see an eternal bubbling spring that the medieval inhabitant’s thought was divine hence its name, Font Dionne. Others thought it was the entrance to hell, some thought it contained a snake that it's looks could kill. It was worth the visit.
To me the magical part of Tonnerre was the fact that Le Tour de France will also pass by this village.
We finally arrived in Dijon at 3pm after a little difficulty negotiating the one way streets and have a little altercation with our GPS, “Tommy”.
We finally meet our lovely hostess, Coco who couldn’t do enough to make us welcome, from baking cake for our arrival to having the apartment fully supplied with all the necessities required to make a meal after a long drive.
We are looking forward to hiding the suitcases and having clothes in a wardrobe for the next seven days.
Sue and Leon,
ReplyDeleteAny chance of leaving even a little bit of wine left in the country for when I arrive??
No way Clive. I'm sure you will make up for it while you are here.
ReplyDeleteThe wine is both good and low cost.
Even the house wines or local cafe wine served in a ceramic pichet or jug.
Need to be careful to not get sucked in at the tourist spots. We sometimes follow the local workers for a good feed at a good price.
You will love your trip.
Leon
Hey Leon
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to our coffee we were going to have before you left.
Chippa
I am following your adventures to France after seeing your photo on Ken's blog. Have fun!
